Emily Mary Toogood

This is my Great-Grandmother.
Emily Mary Toogood.

Her parents were James Toogood, and Mary Elizabeth Gates.

She was born on 15th of August 1885 in Southampton, Bath, England.   She was christened that same year at St; James church  in Southampton, Hampshire, England.

She appeared in the census in 1891 at the age of 5 years old.  She was living at 14 River Street in St, Mary, Southampton with her parents, her older sister Rosalie, her older brother Harry, and her younger brother Albert .

Emily immigrated in 1899 at the age of 14 to Canada. (I do no know if she came with her family to Canada or traveled alone).

On the 1901 census, she was listed as a servant at the age of 16 in Lanark, Ontario, Canada with the Bowland family.

She married her husband George Leighton Fry on June 14th, 1911 at the age of 26 years old.  She listed her name as Mary, but never listed her parents.  Charles Tomlinson and R Russell were the witnesses.

She had six children, George, Albert, Mary, Alice, Beatrice, and Gordon.

She died on January 8th, 1974,and buried on the 12th, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.  She had lived 88 years on the earth.

She lived through the depression, and both world wars.
